Rides great, changed tires, kept em balanced. She no longer vibrates and is really smooth. Paid to put in two new hydraulic engine mounts $400. In Nov 09 I replaced all four rotors and put in new pads, pads are easy. I also renovated the starter, put in new spark plugs, (remove what appears to be the engine valve cover top). Only $108 on line for a new one, via e-bay. Presently I have it for a couple weeks to replace the alternator before it fails. Added water and it came down to 13.6, just like the new alternator puts out. Battery water was low a year earlier and the voltage was running 15.5 volts and burning our rear overhead lamps like popcorn. Oh yeah, replaced the battery, this had the original, it is big, $100 and in the trunk. Be sure to take the brake sheet metal splash with ya. Gotta have someone press the split bearings in and out after removing the wheel from the suspension. A bear for a do it your self-er, but gratifying work. Put out a whine and I traced it to the bearing. (oops explained) - the right rear wheel bearing failed at 115,000. I replaced cooling hoses, coolant, new water pump, new viscous clutch, several oil and filter changes, air filter, and drained the auto tranny (AT) and torque converter, cleaned the AT filter. Nothing has failed (oops) but I have done preventative maintenance to keep things from failing. I gave it to my daughter as a college graduation present in 2007. However it does feel a little sluggish to me when accelerating from being stopped but that could just be my driving style and it feels like it takes a little longer than it should for the car to shift from first to second gear.Īt the moment I’m leaning toward #2 and don’t want to have to disassemble the shifter console if I don’t have too.I bought my 99 C-230 with 99,000. The car doesn’t seem to have any shifting problems while driving. And since there’s no dipstick, thanks MB, I’m not sure if it’s low on fluid or not. Since I bought this care used I’m not sure when its last transmission filter change was. Could this be causing the problem? When I am able to shift gears the shifting is smooth and does not feel sticky at all.Ģ. It’s been there for about two weeks and I haven’t noticed any problems up to this point. It appears as if someone has spill soda, although it does not appear to be very much, in the gear shifter. It seems to happen the majority of the time but not every time. I guess I’m looking for some input on what the problem could be. (I did not try and force the shifter because I’m not a complete moron and know when to stop before causing more serious damage.) After troubleshooting the problem for a few minutes I discovered that if I go from D to N and wait for around 5 seconds then it will move past to R, then P. However this morning when I went to put the car in park from drive the shifter would not go past neutral no matter what I tired. I recently purchased it in July of this year and haven’t had any problems with it yet. I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor with around 110,000 miles on it.
